About Our History
Jim Bovender opened Oletowne Jewelers in York County in 1973. Since then, Oletowne has become a well established destination for quality and unique jewelry as well as repair and custom designs. In 2003, Jim retired and his son Jamie took over the store. Jamie has kept up with “the way things used to be”, and has added his own personal touch. “Very nice staff and store. In 2011, I lost the small end diamond in my anniversary ring and had it replaced by Oletowne. I was happy with the work and the price was reasonable. Four years later, this past March, I looked and the small end diamond is missing again. I was told they had no way of knowing if it was the one they had done previously, so I left it to be repaired again. Today I came home and noticed the end stone is missing AGAIN. So chances are, it is one they replaced. Wonder if I’m going to have to pay for a 3rd stone? (If so, it won’t be done by Oletowne”.)
